John J. Magilligan: 1162-1166 Pacific Street Apartment Building

After the great difficulty the Magilligans had in selling 1263-1277 Bergen Street, they switched to building three contiguous apartment buildings, which they could instead of selling collect rent on. According to the "History of Long Island" the cost to build was $150,000 for the three buildings. (But I didn't find an announcement of the permit.)

These three buildings were built 1902 by John Magilligan's son. The father was probably the architect, but he had paralysis when this was built. Note the name on the ads is no longer Magilligan and Son, and for the first time the middle initial J. was added.

The Brooklyn Daily Eagle, November 22, 1902. I was unable to find any use of "St. Marks section" in the current times. Grant Square is now called Grant Core. A picture of the statue when it was dedicated in 1896.
